Biacore Policies
Use of Instrument
Facility Policies:
- In case of cancellation or early completion of an experiment, please notify the facility manager and other users that the instrument is available. This will allow other users to utilize the time that has been vacated, and our T100 won't sit idle. Beginning in 2008, we will be charging for un-notified cancellations.
- Please provide your full name, email address, and phone number, when you reserve time on the online calendar.
- Please complete all information on the mandatory user login/logout sheet attached to the machine. Use the log to record materials purchased from the facility.
- Please label all your materials saved in the refrigerator with your name, lab's name and the date. Items more than 3 months old or undated will be discarded.
- We emphasize that every user must perform a "DESORB" run before you start your actual experiment. Instructions for “DESORB” run are posted on the instrument.
- Please reserve time based on the actual plus one hour of the time required for the experiment. We strongly discourage over-reserving time on the calendar. Beginning in 2008, you will be charged for the actual reserved time instead of the experimental time.
- Please keep the experimental area clean as a courtesy to other users, and shut off the light when the room isn't occupied.
- Please discard used tubes and tips in appropriate labeled containers in the hood.
Sample Requirements:
- Biacore recommendation is that both the ligand and analyte should be >90% pure for kinetic analysis. It may vary based on the type of analysis.
- Use Biacore recommended buffers and reagents to perform an experiment. Filter all buffers, regeneration solutions etc., through 0.2um filters.
- Centrifuge all samples before use to avoid any air bubbles interfering with the experimental results.
- It is absolutely critical not to have glycerol or any other type of reagent in the samples or buffers that can potentially modifies the refractive index of solutions. This modification can affect the experimental results. For more information please visit http://www.biacore.com/lifesciences/Application Support/index.html
