Training Description

Different Levels of Training

  1. Biacore T100 Basics- Use of Control Software/Basic Evaluation; Includes a lecture and hands-on training session using “Biacore T100 Getting Started Kit”.
  2. Biacore T100 Advanced – Kinetics and Affinity – A two day course, which mainly focuses on design and optimization of Kinetic and Affinity experiments using BIAsimulation software and evaluation of kinetic and affinity experimental data using BIAevaluation software. A prerequisite for this course is successful completion of Biacore Basics course from Biacore.

Training Requirements for using the T100

Minimal Requirements

  1. A minimum of a two-day training course will be required to get approval for independent operation of the instrument. This Basic training will provide a good understanding of the software and the instrument.
  2. Non-trained users should get training from any one of the following:
    1. Biacore courses, GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences
    2. A person trained by Biacore
    3. An outside training organization, and/or the Core Facility manager.
  3. After training, new users need to provide a statement or a certificate of completion from the training agency.

Other training requirements for advanced use of Biacore

  1. Advanced level of Kinetics and Affinity Course training is recommended for design and optimization of Kinetics and Affinity experiments. This course also facilitates the evaluation of kinetics and affinity data using the BIA evaluation software, and design of kinetics and affinity experiments based on the BIAsimulation software.
  2. Training can be obtained only from Biacore, GE Healthcare. Prerequisite for this course is successful completion of “Biacore Basics” course from Biacore.

  1. From Biacore Facility Manager with 8 hour fee charge for either Basic training. (Must attach .pdf showing the registration form for new users to print, complete, and turn-in).
  2. Technical Assistance for all users will be at $40/hour from 08/01/07 thru 07/31/08 and $50/hour from 08/01/08 thru 07/31/09.
