Bio
Cary Gielniak
is the Director of the Information Technology Department at the Biodesign
Institute. He is a technology management executive with more than 30 years of experience
in the electric utilities, semiconductor manufacturing, biotechnology,
education and online sales industries. His specialties are in the areas of data
center management, information technology platforms, and network architecture.
In his current
role as director of Information Technology at the Biodesign Institute, Gielniak
manages a team that provides desktop support services; server installation and
support; web development; database administration; and audio visual services,
production and editing. Since 2004, he has built the Biodesign IT organization to
support the needs and equipment of more than 600 faculty, scientists and staff
– accommodating Biodesign’s demand for data storage with more than 75 servers.
Prior to his
work at the Biodesign Institute, Gielniak held management positions with
Computer Sciences Corporation, Motorola, SkyMall Media Ventures, and the Salt
River Project. He serves on multiple technology committees at Arizona State
University and is a board member of the Arizona Rational Users Group and a
member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Gielniak
earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University Calumet and an MBA
from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University.
