Bio
Michael McLeod brings more than 25 years of
facilities administration experience to the post of Director of Facility
Management for the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. The Biodesign Institute is the state’s
largest bioscience facility and the very first LEED Platinum Certified
building. McLeod oversees all projects, maintenance, space management,
security, reception, shipping and receiving, core resources, environmental
health and safety and building sustainability programs.
Before joining the Biodesign Institute,
McLeod worked for six years in Capital Programs for ASU on both its Tempe and
West campuses. As the Associate Director
of the Capital Programs Management Group he coordinated design, construction
and move-in phases of ASU’s three largest, state-of-the-art research
buildings: Biodesign’s Buildings A and
B, the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology building V, and the Flexible
Display Center.
Previously, McLeod was the General Manager of
Site Services with Intel Corporation, where he worked for 16 years in the
company’s Chandler, Ariz., and Santa Clara, Calif., locations. He directed the development of Intel’s
Chandler campus that included office, warehouse, sort and semiconductor
fabrication facilities. While in Santa
Clara, McLeod directed site operations for three Intel campuses: corporate
headquarters, the company’s largest research/development fabrication facility,
and two production fabrication facilities.
In recent years, McLeod has presented at U.S.
Green Building’s GreenBuild Conference in Phoenix and the Research Facilities
Forum in Dallas.
McLeod has a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly
in California and an accreditation for Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design by the U.S. Green Building Council.
In addition, he is a member of Association of Higher Education
Facilities Officers, the Project Management Institute, and the International
Facilities Management Association.
